Zoo Identifies Spider As Harmless Native

The Oregon Zoo says a spider brought in for identification is harmless to humans and a Northwest native.

A zoo spokesperson says though it was dead by the time it reached the zoo, it was identified as a Pacific Coast trapdoor spider. It is common in the area in the month of June and should be left alone.

A woman brought the spider in on concerns it could be deadly.
She found it as she was mowing the lawn.
Zoo spokesperson Hova Navajarian says it is about the size of a quarter.
