Letter: Goodness of America is under threat

As America is forced to watch the divisiveness of a president whose unrestrained and poorly consulted decisions are making the world more dangerous, I recall his recent plans to take over Greenland and fight with Denmark.

My father was from Denmark, a strong and dependable NATO ally to America, and defender of the Jewish people during a time when they were being rounded up by Nazis and murdered across Europe.

In this time of seeing brown people being rounded up by masked thugs and taken to our own concentration camps, under the pretense of only going after criminals, I ask, “Is this the American way?”

I decided to re-read some history of the Danish resistance of the Nazis. In the preface to the book “Darkness over Denmark” is Edmund Burke’s comment, “The one condition necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

Our “good men” in Congress have allowed evil to begin to erode the goodness of America by doing nothing to stop the spread of fascism in our country.
