Letter: Portland Frog Brigade jumping on the wrong side of the pond

“It’s not easy being green.” — Kermit the Frog
Holy frogs’ legs. Suzanne Bonamici, Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden all decided to not attend the recent State of the Union address. While Congressional representatives for Clatsop County refused to attend the event, my hometown of Portland was represented in Washington, D.C., by a bunch of freakish frogs.
Yes, frogs.
According to their website, “The Portland Frog Brigade is a nonviolent art-activist collective that models and advocates for peaceful creative dissent.” I watched on TV as these semi-human protesters attended the “State of the Swamp” affair that supposedly countered the presidential address.
Also on the Frogs’ website it’s stated, “Our Resistance Assistance program provides direct material support and services to organizations working to advance democracy, justice and human dignity.”
My question is, how dignified is an army of flabby frogs acting like lunatics at political events? And as far as advancing democracy, I find these twisted toads are jumping on the wrong side of the pond.
I guess when the largest city in the state has the motto, “Keep Portland Weird!” something like this was bound to happen, where people representing the state are cowardly no-shows and idiotic loons going to a city known as The Swamp.
In the final analysis, Oregon has evolved into a rudderless state over the past decades, which can be traced back to the fact that over half of the state’s residents were not born here, including both Rep. Bonamici and Sen. Wyden.
That makes me want to croak.
