Ear: Thorin

On May 20, 2022, Thorin Loeks, a singer-songwriter from British Columbia, left Astoria’s Pier 1 to canoe about 5,000 miles across America to Pensacola, Florida. Quite an adventure, to be sure. This was a new challenge — he had already bicycled and canoed over 93,000 across North America.

In an Oct. 15 Facebook update, he posted: “Still pinching myself that I have successfully paddled the entire Missouri River to St. Louis, Missouri … More than anything, beyond incredible days on the river and in nature, the friendships I have made out here have been the true gold of this journey.”

After mostly retracing Lewis and Clark’s return trip, he’s now paddling down the Mississippi River on the final leg of his travels to the Gulf of Mexico. Stay tuned. (Photo: Thorin Loeks)
