Both Instagram (23,000-plus likes) and Facebook (31,000-plus likes), as of Tuesday, are abuzz about Saturday’s posts by Joshua Gates, star of Discovery‘s “Expedition Unknown.”

In case you don’t know the show, here’s the official description: “Intrigued by legendary mysteries and driven by curiosity, Josh Gates is on a mission for answers. ‘Expedition Unknown’ chronicles his global adventures as he investigates iconic unsolved events, lost cities, buried treasures and other puzzling stories.”

And now to the social media post — accompanied by photos of Haystack Rock and the Goonie’s treasure coin — that is causing such a fuss:

“Astoria and Cannon Beach, Oregon,” Gates wrote. “I’ve wanted to explore here since I first saw Mikey, Mouth, Chunk and Data go search for One-Eyed Willie’s rich stuff to save the Goondocks. It’s just as magical and misty as I always imagined. So stay tuned, because this is our time! Goonies never say die!”
