SEASIDE — The OshKosh B’Gosh Seaside Factory Outlet store has been awarded a National Assistance League Operation School Bell Award. Store Manager Helena Bradwell has followed in previous store manager, Susan Prettyman’s, footsteps in helping the Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific (ALCP) get the best bargains available. The two women were presented with the award at a luncheon May 7 at the Astoria Golf and Country Club.

The award is given to honor those who, through significant financial, in-kind or service support, have a direct powerful and positive effect on the Operation School Bell program in a chapter’s community. The Assistance League’s signature program provides a coat or hoodie, two pairs of pants, two shirts, underwear, socks and shoes to children identified by school counselors as needing school clothing.

ALCP and the Seaside OshKosh B’Gosh store have worked together for several years to help these children. Last year the store collected 297 pairs of jeans in their “Jeanius” promotion, and came in third in the nation in the Operation School Bell campaign.

OshKosh has also donated hats, gloves and jeggings, plus several bags of unsellable clothing that only needed a wash or slight repair. ALCP furnished clothing to 606 Clatsop County schoolchildren in the 2014-15 school year.
