Gooniphiles were among those who watched the Oscars in February and were righteously miffed that LUPE ONTIVEROS, pictured, who played non-English speaking maid, ROSALITA, in THE GOONIES, was left out of the telecasts In Memoriam slideshow. She died in July at the age of 69.

According to a story in the Los Angeles Times (http://tinyurl.com/lupeoscars), the National Hispanic Media Coalition sent the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences a letter protesting the omission.

The Academy then issued a statement saying that although she was among the many worthy artists we were unfortunately not able to feature during the Oscar show, theyve added her to the In Memorial section of the Oscars website (http://tinyurl.com/lupeoscarpix). Goonies never die.
