The weekend was perfect for all sorts of activities.

Bill Melson used a kayak to set crab pots in the Columbia River along Fisherman’s Beach in Fort Stevens State Park.

His crabbing was unsuccessful with only a handful of undersized crab, which he released. Melson and his wife Cathy, from Vancouver, Wash., enjoy visiting the North Coast during any weather.

About his crabbing technique, Melson commented, “It’s a lot of work for a few crab.”
