In One Ear: A glassful of Google

Wired North Coasters who rely on search giant Google might find this news item of interest:

A story on gCaptain.com says Google has been secretly building a gigantic floating barge made of shipping containers in the San Francisco Bay (http://tinyurl.com/goobarge). A screen shot of the barge from a CNN video is shown (http://tinyurl.com/pixbarge).

Speculation ran rampant that the barge would likely be a showroom for GOOGLE GLASS (www.google.com/glass/start), pictured inset, which uses voice commands to take photos and videos and access the Internet, with unknown future capabilities.

As an aside, if you have an extra $1,500 handy, sign up for the Explorer program at the Google Glass website, and when a spot opens, you might get to test the device. However, the Ear does not want to hear about North Coasters falling in the river, so distracted by their Google Glass device they forgot to look where theyre going.

Back to the Google barge: Google finally cryptically revealed the barge will be an interactive space where people can learn about new technology. Huh? Your guess is as good as the Ears as to what thats supposed to mean.
