Rescuers join forces to help woman after collapse

At 64-year-old woman collapsed on the Astoria Bridge Sunday during the Great Columbia Crossing 10K race.

The woman, whose name has not been released, hit her head during the fall. She was in the company of three nurses who started CPR, and an ambulance was dispatched. She was revived en route to Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Astoria Fire Chief Ted Ames did not know the condition of the patient, but confirmed a person went down on the bridge and CPR was started. The woman were transported to CMH by Medix Ambulance Service. Hospital spokesman Paul Mitchell said the patient was then transported to another hospital. Warrenton Fire also assisted.
It was a team effort, Ames said.

Warrenton Fire Chief Tim Demers said his department provides people on the bridge to assist with any medical aid. Seaside and Astoria Police were also on scene.
