Obituaries: Debra Dorothy Mattingly

Debra Dorothy Mattingly, 54, of Astoria, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Astoria.

She was born Nov. 27, 1953, in Hayward, Calif., to Joseph Edward and Eleanor June (Lopes) Glackin.

In 1971, she graduated from Astoria High School.

On Oct. 13, 1975, she married John Mattingly in Astoria. He survives, residing in Astoria.

Mrs. Mattingly worked at the Astoria Golf & Country Club and Haukes Market. She then began working as a waitress at the Ship Inn Restaurant, where she worked for many years until 2007.

Family members said her hobbies included reading, writing and gardening.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Amy Mattingly and Jennifer and Carl Fisher, all of Seattle; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Mattingly of Corvallis, Andrew and Chelsea Mattingly of Portland and Ben Mattingly of Coos Bay; a grandson, Davis Fisher of Seattle; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Michele and Paul Pierce of Astoria and Sue Glackin of Orlando, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Lisa Glackin of Hillsboro; and seven nieces and nephews, Tanner and Rylee Pierce of Astoria, Sean Glackin of Hillsboro, Keira and Shasia Holthusen of Warrenton and Irie and Taysen Hernandez.

A recitation of the rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1465 Grand Ave., followed by a memorial Mass at 11 a.m.

A reception will be held after the Mass at the Astoria Golf & Country Club, 33445 Sunset Beach Lane in Warrenton.

Private Interment will be at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.

Memorial contributions may be given to Lower Columbia Hospice, in care of Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.
