Fire? At 6:34 p.m. Friday, the Astoria Fire Department responded to a suspicious fire at a vacant duplex at 271 Blue Ridge Drive. One side of the duplex was fully involved when firefighters arrived. Using large caliber lines, firefighters knocked down the flames, then went inside to continue battling the fire. Because the duplex is on a steep hillside, it could be entered only from the uphill side, but firefighters still were able to confine the fire to one unit. Lewis and Clark and Olney-Walluski fire departments also responded and Astoria police directed traffic. Astoria firefighters were on the scene for about three hours. Results of the arson investigation were not available.
