School thanks Safeway for donations

St. Mary’s Star of the Sea School honored Safeway recently for more than $5,200 in donations the school received in 2007 by presenting the Astoria Store Manager Robert Boland with a Certificate of Appreciation.

The money raised helped fund programs and events that benefit the students and assist teachers.
The school has an enrollment of approximately 160 students, and has 235 families who have “linked” their Safeway Club Card to the group through the eScrip program. Each time the linked families shop at Safeway, a contribution is calculated and funded to the group every month.
