The Oregon Department of Forestry has announced that the access road to Soapstone Lake in Clatsop County will be closed starting Monday until further notice due to forest management activities on the Clatsop State Forest. The road branches off Oregon Highway 53 and provides vehicle access to the lake.

Unit Forester Larry Sprouse said the access road will be reopened as soon as possible, but that a date has not yet been set. More information on the closure can be obtained by calling Sprouse at the department’s Astoria District office, 503-325-5451.
