Obituaries: Elizabeth Ann ‘Libby’ Helgerson

Elizabeth Ann ‘Libby’ Helgerson, 55, of Longview, Wash., died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, in Longview.

Mrs. Helgerson was born March 31, 1951, in Astoria to John Charles and Mary Elizabeth Owen. Her mother survives, residing in Astoria. Her father died in 1996.

Mrs. Helgerson attended Star of the Sea School until her senior year, then graduated from Astoria High School in 1970. Family members said she was an accomplished basket maker.

She married Roger Helgerson Oct. 17, 1970 in Astoria. He survives, residing in Longview.

The Helgersons moved to Longview in 1972.

In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Helgerson is survived by one daughter, Lisa Helgerson of Kelso, Wash.; one son, Roger Helgerson Jr. of Forest Grove; four brothers, Chuck Owen of Alaska, John and Jim Owen, both of Astoria and Bill Owen of Tigard; and two sisters, Mary Alice Meeker of Woodland, Wash., and Margaret Wells of Astoria.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Owen, in 1968.

A memorial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 15th Street and Grand Avenue. Coffee will follow in the auditorium.

Memorial contributions may be made to breast cancer research, such as the Susan G. Komen for the Cure fund, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.

Dahl-Mcvickers Funeral Home in Longview is in charge of arrangements.
