Students creative in recycle designs

More than 200 students from across the county participated in the 2006 Ninth Annual Recycling Awareness Week Poster Contest sponsored by Western Oregon Waste. The contest is held in November as part of the statewide promotional effort to help bring attention to the importance of recycling.

Posters were judged on creativity, originality, and most important, recycling message. Winning student-artists will receive cash prizes for their efforts, and their posters will be used in future promotional campaigns.
This year the winners are:
Kindergarten to second grade

Second -Jeanna Rudolph, Astor Elementary, Astoria
Third Place – Keldon Littell, Astor
Third to fifth grades
First – Annik Fremstad, Hilda Lahti
Second – Haley Rubus, Hilda Lahti
Third – Emily Johnson, Cannon Beach Elementary
Sixth to eighth grades
First – Tess Rund, Hilda Lahti
Second – Jodi Vollmer, Lewis and Clark Elementary, Astoria
Third – Lorraine Basch, Broadway Middle School, Seaside
This year all the teachers of participating students were entered in a drawing for a $100 gift certificate for school supplies.
