Peter Mason Barney, 56, of Gresham, formerly of Astoria, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, in Gresham.

He was born Dec. 13, 1950, in Norfolk, Va., to Jean Barney and Cmdr. William Barney. His mother survives, residing in Astoria. His father preceded him in death.

Mr. Barney graduated from Astoria High School in 1969, and attended Oregon State University.

He married Sharon Barney, who survives, residing in Gresham. They were married for 34 years.

In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Barney is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Goodnight and Rebecca Barney; a sister, Anne Heinitz; and two granddaughters.

A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church in Gresham.
