Sonja and Jerry Nunnally, of Astoria, and Danielle and Michele Kler of Scappoose, announce the engagement of Cherish Thayer, of Astoria, to their son, Matthew Nunnally, of Camp Pendleton, Calif.

The bride-to-be is an early graduate of Astoria High School, class of 2007. She works at The Baked Alaska and the Columbia River Day Spa.

The prospective groom graduated from Astoria High School in 2006, U.S. Marine Corps recruit training in San Diego in November 2006 and Infantry School in January 2007. He is currently in special training for deployment to Iraq.

A small ceremony will be held in March in California. A renewal of vows wedding ceremony and reception will be held in Astoria in 2008.
