Letter: Patterson commended

Meg Patterson is an exceptional mentor, director and manager. Astoria is quite lucky to have someone of her caliber just roll into town on a whim (“California woman’s impulse lands her a position at the River Theater,” The Daily Astorian, March 19). Good thing parking is so hard to come by in San Francisco.

She trained me starting at the age of 15 in stage management and direction, as well as theater management. She also was the one person to see my potential and encouraged me to go to college.

I would like clarify that although she did work at the local community theater, MTC, for one year, the theater that she built from the ground up, Warehouse Repertory Theatre, was a regional professional theater. Theater, as well as the other performing arts, is unique in that it exists only in our memories. Therefore, it is important that these memories be preserved accurately.
