Clatsop Community College readies for fall term

It’s time to register for fall term classes at Clatsop Community College. Registration continues through Oct. 3 at the Main Campus, 1653 Jerome Ave., Astoria. Classes will begin Sept. 29.

The fall term class schedule is available on campus and at other locations such as public libraries, and can also be accessed on the Web site, (www.clatsopcc.edu). Registration is available by mail-in and fax forms printed on the class schedule.

The college offers job training, computer skills, physical fitness, art, literature, science and required courses for transfer to a four-year institution and personal enrichment.

Following is a sample of the programs offered at CCC:

Associate in General Studies (two-year degree)

Associate of Arts, Oregon Transfer Degree (students complete their first two years, then transfer to a four-year college)

Associate of Science, Oregon Transfer Degree in Business (students complete their first two years of a four-year business degree, then transfer to a four-year college)

American Welding Society Entry Level One-Year Certificate

Automotive Technician One-Year Certificate

Business Degrees and Certificates (Accounting, Business Management, General Office, Microcomputer Business Applications, Office Systems, and more)

Computer Information Systems Two-Year Associate Degree

Crafts and Industrial Trades Associate Degree

Computer-Aided Design (AutoCAD) and Drafting One-Year Certificate

Criminal Justice Associate Degree

Early Childhood Education One-Year Certificate

Fire Science Associate Degree

Maritime Programs (Maritime Sciences One-Year Certificate, Vessel Operations Two-Year Associate Degree, and Specialized Maritime Training Programs)

The College provides a variety of student success services such as financial aid and scholarships, career counseling, free State of the College address setClatsop Community College’s president will deliver a State of the College address to faculty and staff at 9 a.m. Friday. Greg Hamann will also present Rep. Betsy Johnson, D-Scappoose, with a plaque to recognize her support of higher education in the county.tutoring and cooperative work experience. Bus service for college classes through the Sunset Empire Transportation District is $30 per term with unlimited ridership to Astoria, Warrenton and Hammond. Passes and bus schedules are available at the Business Office, main campus.
