The event begins at 11 a.m. with the hunt to kick off at noon with a blast of the siren of an Astoria Fire Department engine. Children are asked to bring their own baskets to fill in the competition for small prizes donated by Astoria and Warrenton area businesses. Areas of the park will be roped off for five divisions including 2 years and younger, 3-5, 6-8, 9-11 and those with special needs.

In addition to the egg hunt, a petting zoo will be hosted by the local 4-H Club and firefighters will display their “safety house.” All the activities and the hunt are free, but hot-dogs and sodas will be available for a donation.

Astoria Middle School students will color the eggs, and area organizations such as the Astoria Fire and Parks and Community Services departments, Astoria-Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce and Tongue Point Job Corps Center are among those participating in the event. The Easter Bunny and Fred Bear will also be on hand to entertain the children.
