Anna Gertrude Albertsen

Anna Gertrude Albertsen, 88, of Seaside, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005 in Seaside.

Mrs. Albertsen was born Nov. 22, 1916 in Thayer, Kan., to Carl and Minnie Baker.

Mrs. Albertsen was raised in Kansas, California, and Tumalo. In 1938, Anna received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oregon State University. Her major was Home Economics with a minor in Education. She worked at the State Tuberculosis Hospital in Salem before enlisting in the WAVES during World War II. After being employed both in Salem and New York, she moved to Seaside in 1944.

She married Victor Andie Albertsen at her parents home in Tumalo on Feb. 22, 1945. He survives and resides in Scappoose.

She retired in 1945 to become a full-time homemaker. She was a member of the Lewis and Clark Bible Church and enjoyed drawing and painting.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Albertsen is survived by two daughters, Carol Fitzgerald of Beaver and Barbara Aho of Gearhart; one son, Daniel Albertsen of Astoria; two sisters, Ruth Hansen of Bethesda, Md., and Carol English of Denver, Colo.; five granddaughters, Nancy Christman of Milwaukie, Heidi West of Astoria, Rena Albertsen of Redding, Calif., Heather Morris of Dallas, Texas, and Kelsey Gobroski of Anchorage, Alaska; four grandsons, David Fitzgerald of Portland, Daniel B. Albertsen of Astoria, Josh Albertsen of Redmond and Bryan Aho of Dallas, Texas; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Sandi Gobroski, and two sisters, Patricia Boesiger and Aileen Kileen.

A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lewis and Clark Bible Church, 35082 Seppa Lane in Astoria with a private interment at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis and Clark Bible Church, in care of Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.

Funeral arrangements are in care of Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary.
