Matthew Sean Harding, 32, of Anchorage, Alaska, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005 in Anchorage.

Mr. Harding was born Aug. 8, 1973 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to David and Elaine Harding. Both parents survive. His mother and stepfather, Elaine and John Norling, reside in Seaside. His father, David Harding, resides in London, Ontario.

Mr. Harding attended Dennis Morris and Seaside High School. He lived in St. Catherine’s, Ontario, Canada for 11 years before moving to Seaside.

He was a commercial fisherman. His began fishing at the age of 17 in Warrenton and then moved on to Bristol Bay, Alaska. He worked as a deckhand for many years before becoming the deck boss. For the last five years, he worked for the Hueker Brothers.

Family members said that in 2005, he fulfilled his dream by being the captain of his boat. They also said he loved snowboarding, hunting, fishing, rock hunting, video games, movie trivia and the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Melissa Harding of Portland; his grandmother, Barbara Olson of Seaside; one aunt, Kathy Murphy of Baltimore, Md.; two cousins, Justin Fine of Indianapolis, Ind., and Josh Fine of Baltimore; his girlfriend Kelly Sameulson and his best friend, Chuck O’Brien, both of Anchorage, and numerous friends in Seaside and Alaska.

A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hughes-Ransom Mortuary in Seaside. Following the service, a reception will be held at the American Legion.
