Seaside resident, 101Letha Marie Wilson Swart, 101, of Seaside, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, in Seaside.
Mrs. Swart was born to Richard Carlysle and Ella Louise Hughes Wilson May 2, 1903, in Ritzville, Wash. She attended high school in Salem and college at Oregon State University in 1921.
She married Louis Arthur Swart on May 29, 1941. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Mrs. Swart was active in the Episcopal Church, Women’s Guild and the Twentieth Century Women’s Club. Family members said she was a longtime supporter of public education. She served in leadership positions with local and regional units of the Parent-Teacher Organization. She volunteered regularly in voting and Red Cross drives.
The Swarts moved to Astoria in 1991.
Mrs. Swart is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard Arthur and Dixie Swart of Cathlamet, Wash., a grandson, Byron Wolfgang Swart of Albuquerque, N.M., a niece, Jean Hinckley of Yucalpa, Calif.; a niece and her husband, Margaret and Bob Switzer of Long Beach, Calif.; a grand-nephew and his wife, Bill and Melanie Switzer of Kenai, Alaska; and a grand-niece and her husband, Marjorie and Emory Cowan of Colorado Springs, Colo.
A private family gathering will be held.
