Softball: Lady Gulls walk over Baker and Cottage Grove

The Seaside softball team took part in the Hidden Valley tournament last week, and after a 6-0 loss to Yreka on the first day, the Lady Gulls responded with victories over Baker/Powder Valley (18-3) and Cottage Grove (15-0) Friday and Saturday.

The Gulls drew a combined 28 walks in the two wins.

Seaside had seven hits in the three-inning victory over Baker, taking advantage of 12 free passes. The Gulls scored 10 runs in the second inning on their way to an 18-0 lead.

Alissa Betts was 3-for-3 and drove in four runs. Carly Corder pitched three innings, striking out six with two walks and three hits allowed.

In Saturday’s win over the Lions , the Gulls had just one hit from Kenzie Starr, and drew 16 walks.

Seaside pitcher Lydia Klumper pitched all four innings, allowing three hits with seven strikeouts.
