Documentary series at college explores policy, cultural trends

Clatsop Community College’s Dora Badollet Library is holding a summer documentary series starting Tuesday. Each film will be shown twice in a week, including noon Tuesday and 1 p.m. Thursday in the library lounge.
“An Eye on You: Citizens Under Surveillance,” about surveillance in the U.S., will be shown Tuesday and Thursday.
“Shall We Soon Be Eating In Vitro Meat?,” exploring the environmental effects of meat production amid a growing population and the possibilities of cultured meat, will show June 28 and June 30.
“Please Vote For Me,” which follows the cutthroat elections for class monitor in a third-grade class of 8-year-old children in the Evergreen Primary School in Wuhan, China, will show July 5 and July 7.
“David Hockney: A Bigger Picture,” following a 69-year-old British artisan as he returns to the United Kingdom after 25 years in Hollywood and creates the largest picture ever made outdoors, shows July 12 and July 14.
“ADD and Loving It?!,” in which comedian Patrick McKenna learns about and seeks a diagnosis for adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, shows July 19 and July 21.
“Biometrics,” which looks into the collection of unique bodily information, its effectiveness and the effect on privacy, shows July 26 and July 28.
“The Fabulous Story of the American Dollar,” which looks into the future of the U.S. dollar amid offshore cash and the rise of the Euro, shows Aug. 2 and Aug. 4.
“E-Waste Tragedy,” which looks into global illegal electronics recycling, shows Aug. 9 and Aug. 11.
