SEAVIEW, Wash. — On June 5, Clatsop County Commissioner Sarah Nebeker presented the first Royal Nebeker Scholarship in the Arts for $500 to Drea Rose Frost at the second annual Nebeker Dinner, a Scandinavian smörgåsbord held at the Shelburne Inn in Seaview. The scholarship honors the commissioner’s late husband, Royal Nebeker, who was an artist, teacher and community leader.

She will use the scholarship funds for courses in mixed media and expressive figure drawing at Sitka Center for Art and Ecology in Otis.
The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage those pursuing an education in two- or three-dimensional visual arts.
