John Mudge Larfield passed away after a short illness in Portland. John was a lifelong resident of Seaside. He was born, grew up, raised his family and retired in his home town.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. After leaving the Navy, he returned to Seaside to resume his apprenticeship as a plumber. He was member of Local 290 Plumbers, Steamfitters & Shipfitters Union for over 60 years.

During this time he met his wife of 59 years, Inez Nelson. They raised three children, Jon “Bruce,” Barbara Hoppe and James.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Inez. He is survived by his children; three grandchildren; and his brother, Leo Larfield.

A celebration of life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov 1, at the Bob Chisholm Community Center in Seaside.
