The Friends of the Seaside Library will be presenting a very special event on Thursday, February 6, at 7:00 p.m. Noted author, speaker, and historian, Rex Ziak, will be presenting Letters, Life, and Love: The Genius of Mozart. There will be live cello accompaniment by Andrew Emlin.
The Mozart family wrote more than 600 private letters which contain details about the struggles, romances, and intrigue that made up the personal life of the musical giant Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In these fascinating and personal letters, the character of the young genius is found describing music with his sister, complaining about his fathers snoring at night, and concealing his mothers death. We discover the intrigue of Italian composers trying to undermine his accomplishments, and comical descriptions of contemporary singers. Mozart lived for only 35 years, but during his short life wrote more than 600 works, (including 41 symphonies) and changed music forever. Through this correspondence we can peer deeper into the conversations of this remarkable family and hear them describe their concerns, joys, struggles, and creativity. These letters reveal a Mozart no one knows.
Rex Ziak is an author, Emmy Award winning cinematographer, and a three-time distinguished historian for the Oregon Historical Society. Rex is a captivating public speaker with the unique ability to enthrall his audience and make history come alive. He has been a resident of the North Coast for many years.
