Hey you guys! A nostalgia treat for Goonies fans is happening here in Astoria on Oct. 4, at Lower Columbia Bowl: A special screening of “The Goonies.” Check-in is at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will be shown at 8 p.m.
The event is put on by On Set Cinema, created by Kenny Caperton, a traveling film series that holds movie screenings of “cult favorites and horror classics” at their original filming locations. Caperton himself lives in a life-size replica of Michael Myers’ home, seen in the original “Halloween” movie.
Fans will recall that the local bowling alley was in the opening scenes of the movie, when Chunk smooshes his soda and pizza against the window as he spots the police chasing the Fratellis.
Unfortunately, the afternoon bike filming location tour tickets are sold out. For information about tickets for seeing the movie, or seeing the movie plus bowling tickets, go to bit.ly/GoonieBowl.
By the way, if you want a rare 1986 first edition “VHS Warner Home Video” of “The Goonies,” as of Monday, it’s only $5,000 on eBay, plus $5.38 for shipping. (Photo: Warner Bros.)
