Margaret ‘Maggie’ Reed

Margaret “Maggie” Reed, 76, of Beaverton, formerly of Astoria and Manzanita, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006 in Portland.

She was born Feb. 2, 1930 in Vernal, Utah, to Roland Sr. and Marie Krebs. Her parents died earlier.

Mrs. Reed graduated from the University of Utah with a master’s degree in social work.

She married Charles Reed Dec. 1, 1975. He died Jan. 16, 1987 in Astoria.

She was a member of the Unity Church of Beaverton, where she was involved in activities and volunteered at its bookstore. She volunteered at the Tualatin Hills Nature Park.

Mrs. Reed moved to Astoria in 1980, and to Manzanita in 1989. She lived there for 10 years before returning to the Beaverton area.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Rick Freiberg of Astoria; two granddaughters, Jessica and Allison Freiberg of Astoria; two brothers, David Krebs of Tomball, Texas, and Roland Krebs Jr. of West Valley City, Utah; two sisters, Ruth Rigby of Provo, Utah, and Evelyn Krebs of Murray, Utah.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, John Krebs Sr.

A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Unity Church, 12650 S.W. Fifth St. in Beaverton.

Springer and Sons Mortuary in Aloha is in charge of arrangements.
