Great Vow Zen Monastery to celebrate the Fourth
CLATSKANIE The Great Vow Zen Monastery, located at 79640 Quincy-Mayger Road in Clatskanie, will hold a Fourth of July Celebration and vegetarian potluck picnic Wednesday. Games, activities, and food preparation will begin at the monastery at noon, and the picnic will be at 1 p.m. The games and activities will continue after the picnic.
The city of Clatskanie, which will be celebrating Heritage Days (www.clatskanie days.com) will offer fireworks at dark.
Families and pets (outdoor pets only) are welcome. Those attending should bring a vegan or vegetarian dish to share.

Taize Worship set at Cannon Beach church

Quakers to meet on Peninsula
SEAVIEW, Wash. The Lower Columbia Worship Group of the Society of Friends (Quaker) will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Peninsula Church Center Fireside Room (south building), 5000 N Place, in Seaview. Labyrinth Walk on tap Sunday
Grace Episcopal Church will hold a Labyrinth Walk from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Parish Hall, 1545 Franklin Ave. Participants may start their walk at any time during those hours; the average walk takes between 20 and 30 minutes. Take-out meals offered in Ocean Park

Vacation Bible school offered
Next week, Bethany Free Lutheran Church, 451 34th St., will host a vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. All children 3-years-old to sixth grade are welcome. There will be puppets and Bible stories, music, crafts, snacks and games. The Timothy Team from the Association Free Lutheran Bible School will be visiting for the week and helping with the various parts of the school.

WARRENTON Astoria Aglows next meeting and potluck will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Classroom No. 7027 at Camp Rilea. The guest speaker will be Kathy Boyer, whose topic will be Visionware. Both men and women are welcome.

Finnish church to meet Sunday
The Finnish Evangelical Free Church will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday at the First Congregational Church, 820 Alameda Ave. in Astoria. Pauli Raja-Aho from Finland will be speaking. He will be accompanied by a Finnish couple, Veikko and Leila Niskanen. Refreshments will be served after the service.
