LINCOLN CITY Director and Taft High alum Rocco DeVilliers, is offering fans a chance a sneak preview of his new project in exchange for a little help getting it off the ground.

The Flyboys TV series is planned as a follow up to the 2008 movie of the same name, which told the story of Jason and Kyle, two boys from a small town who accidentally stow away aboard an airplane owned by the mob.

Now, DeVilliers wants to bring Jason and Kyle back, along with Uncle Ed and the rest of the cast in what the director describes as a modern-day Hardy Boys adventure.

In DeVilliers planned series, The Flyboys are seniors in high school who have developed a habit of attracting action and adventure, mystery and intrigue.

DeVilliers is using the fundraising website Indiegogo to ask his fans to help him complete a 15-minute promo of the show to screen for networks.

The networks have responded very favorably to the feature film, Devilliers said, but want to see what the TV series will look and feel like with the boys in high school.

Some of the test footage was shot recently in Depoe Bay and Devilliers is hoping to raise $15,000 to have the promo finished in time for pitch meetings in July.

Devilliers said he feels having the lead actors reprise their movie roles for the series is a unique selling point.

Since the feature film has never been released in the US and was shot when our two leads were children this provides us with an opportunity to do something truly unique, he said. Have two adult actors play themselves as children in a dual storyline flashback. As the series unfolds with all of its richly drawn characters, the fully produced film footage will take on new meaning as its woven into this intricate story of The Flyboys.

As of mid-July, Devilliers had raised 40-percent of its $15,000 goal with 71 days to go through the projects listing on the Indiegogo site www.indiegogo.com/theflyboys.

Supporters can chose to contribute amounts ranging from $10, for which they will receive access to the 15-minute series preview, to $5,000, for which they will receive perks including a private screening of The Flyboys movie for up to 200 guests and a visit to the set of the TV show.
