Jeffrey Price is no amateur when it comes to decorating for Christmas. For the last two decades his house in the 700 block of S. Lincoln Street has been one of the top three choices for the Pacific Power-Seaside residential and commercial lighting contest.
But this year, he wanted to try something a little different. So he synchronized the lights to musical tones using six different channels and 1,400 watts.
“I’ve always decorated, but not quite at this level,” he said.
Price has accumulated the many miles of lights over the years and adds to it each holiday season.
“Nothing is ever the same,” he said about his annual decorations. “And over the years it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.”
He plans to keep them up until Jan. 1 and runs the 20 minute long show (which took six weeks to set up) from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. every night.
“I do it for the community,” he said. “It’s just good community spirit and it livens up everything and gets people in a cheerful spirit.”
And because he uses LED bulbs, Price said his holiday past time doesn’t add that much to his electricity bill.
His house will be featured on the Tour of Lights, Dec. 13, or you can pick up a map at the Seaside Chamber of Commerce or download one at seasidechamber.com
“There are a lot of nice looking houses in Seaside,” he said, adding that he doesn’t decorate his to compete with anyone else. “It brings out the community spirit and it’s nice to see people get together and enjoy all the lights.”
