Don Columbus Borland

Don Columbus Borland, 90, died Dec. 26, 2011 in Seaside, Ore. Don was born Sept. 18, 1921 in LaCrosse, Wash. His parents were Earl and Helen Borland.

Don attended school through the 9th grade.

Don married Amanda June Lentz Kammer, July 1, 2005 in Laughlin, Nev. Amanda is still living in Seaside.

His previous spouse was Barbara Mae Guild Borland. She died May 15, 1997.

Don was a U.S. Navy veteran having served 4 years. His medals include the Navy Good Conduct, American Campaign, European African Middle East Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, and the WWII Victory Medal.

Don retired from Crown Zellerbach as a logger in 1980.

Don was a VFW-Life member of Post 10580, American Legion Post.

Don enjoyed traveling and cutting trees.

Don is survived by his wife, Amanda June Borland; nieces: Glee Steward, Phoenix, Ariz; Nelida Bottin, Yuma, Ariz; Linda White, American Ford, Utah; Karen Rivelli, Aurora, Ore.; Tammie Swanson, Lebanon, Ore.; nephews, Michael Borland, Portland; Alan Borland, Bend; R.C. Borland, Lebanon; numerous great nieces and nephews and 4 stepchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his twin brother, Dan Borland; brothers, Howard and Dick Borland; sister, Pearl Borland and nephew, Russell Borland.

A celebration of life will be held Jan. 17, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post 99, Seaside.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lower Columbia Hospice in care of Hughes-Ransom Mortuary, Seaside.
