USA Today is holding a “Best Small Town Beer Scene” online voting contest, and it’s no surprise that Astoria, with its myriad breweries, is one of the 20 towns in the running, all with a population of less than 30,000.
“Astoria, Oregon might only have 10,000 inhabitants,” USA Today says, “but it has enough craft beer to feed multiple armies 10 times over. This is the home of Rogue, whose public house in a former tuna fish cannery overlooking the Columbia River has been operating since 2007.
“Other top choices include Fort George, which looks out at the river and downtown, and might be Oregon’s most scenic pub, and Astoria Brewing Co., the oldest craft brewery in town. If you’re a stout fan, put Astoria on your calendar for February, when Fort George hosts the Festival of Dark Arts, featuring 80 unique stouts.”
As of Tuesday, Astoria is No. 2. You can vote once a day until the contest ends at 9 a.m. PST Feb. 24. The top 10 will be announced on March 5. Want to get in on the fun and vote for Astoria to get the glory? Bookmark bit.ly/AstoriaBeer and keep voting! (Images: USA Today/Elleda Wilson)
