Real estate brokers fundraiser helps food bank, education

GEARHART Local real estate brokers joined forces in support of the Clatsop Association of Realtors (CAR) annual fundraising golf tournament in Gearhart Sept. 1. The net proceeds, $6,000, will be divided between Clatsop Community Action Regional Food Bank and Clatsop Association of Realtors Educational Foundation.

Meteorologist, Rod Hill of KGW Channel 8 was the guest host of this annual event. An avid golfer, Hill got a hole-in-one in February 2009. Rod sheepishly admitted that hed never taken the time to visit the greater Gearhart area, said Realtor Marianne Pittard of Re/Max River & Sea, which he now proclaims is his new favorite city.
Were thrilled and overwhelmed by the level of community support received for this very worthy event, said Doug Bell, chairman of the event. Donations far exceeded those in years past, further demonstrating the true giving spirit of this community at a time of economic challenge.
CAR donated $2,500 to the Clatsop Community Action Regional Food Bank and also contributed to CARs Educational Foundation in 2010. As a result, three $1,000 educational scholarships were awarded to worthy students seeking to further their academic pursuits.
