Michael and Barbara Swanson of Naselle, Wash., announce the engagement of their daughter, Sara Swanson of Seattle, to Rod Groce of Huntington Beach, Calif. He is the son of Jeanne Fletcher and Rod Groce Sr. 

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Washington State University in Pullman, Wash. She is employed by Boeing as a manufacturer planner. 

The prospective groom graduated from California State Long Beach in Long Beach, Calif. He is employed by Boeing as a programmer analyst.  

An Aug. 27 wedding is planned.
