Northwest Oregon Works, which invests federal, state and local funds into individual career development and businesses, has formed a partnership with FishHer.
The mission of Fisher is to empower women to strengthen local commercial fisheries, families and waters through outreach, service, emergency response and blue economy initiatives.
On Feb. 16, at the Columbia River Maritime Museum, Northwest Oregon Work’s Maritime Program coordinator, Len Tumbarello, presented a check for $44,398.63 to Amy Sharp, of the FishHer-Columbia Pacific Community Alliance, to assist with procuring life jackets, anti-exposure suits and fishing permits, and to host a job fair and luncheon at Englund Marine in Astoria on April 12.
“This is a great partnership, that will help an underappreciated career field,” Tumbarello said.
