Obituaries: Gerald Ross ‘Jerry’ Hansen

Gerald Ross “Jerry” Hansen, 67, of Astoria, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, in Astoria.

He was born Dec. 20, 1942, in Astoria, to Lloyd Hansen and Florence Petersen.

He graduated from Astoria High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University.

On May 22, 1971, he married Colleen Coffey in Monmouth. She survives, residing in Astoria.

Mr. Hansen lived in Astoria all of his life. He worked at Astoria Plywood and in security at Warrenton Lumber.

He was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

Family members said he enjoyed photography, carving decoys, duck hunting, fishing and having coffee with the guys at Landwehr’s. He loved to visit, was a good listener and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Josh Herzberg of Willamina; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Megan Hansen of Seaside; and six grandchildren, Seth, Joy and Skye Hansen of Seaside and James, Emily and Isaac Herzberg of Willamina.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 at the Warrenton Community Center, 170 S.W. Third St. in Warrenton.
