Obituaries: Marilyn C. Scott

Marilyn C. Scott, 85, of Eugene, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, in Eugene, of cancer.

She was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Normal, Ill., to Frank and Helen McIntyre Johnson.

She earned a bachelor’s degree.

Ms. Scott worked as an accountant in the private and public sector. She also managed the King Ko Inn in King Salmon, Alaska. After retiring from the state of Alaska, she owned a bed and breakfast in Seaside. Later she worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency until the age of 77.

She is survived by a son, David Luce of Anchorage, Alaska; four daughters, Lisa (Scott) Smart of Cottage Grove, Debby Scott of Eugene, Charilyn Grewe of Fargo, N.D., and Brenda Steed of Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Skip Johnson of Oxnard, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melinda (Luce) Pappas; and two grandsons, Jeremy Luce and Charlie Kruse.

A celebration of life was has already been held in Eugene.
