Dots ‘N Doodles plans move to new location

After four years in its current location at 100 10th St., Astoria-based Dots ‘N Doodles is preparing to move to new digs on the highway. The new location at 303 Marine Dr. will offer owners Tim Masuelli and Scott Leahing the opportunity to expand their business. They expect to be moved in by October.
“We want to move in the direction of being more interactive with the community,” Leahing said.
The new location has 3,600 sq. ft. on a single floor, which will provide the owners with space to expand their art inventory, and offer community art classes and workshops. Their current space has only 2,000 sq. ft. of useable space spread over two floors.
Leahing said they have provided about six workshops per year in their current location, but hope to establish a more regular class schedule after the move.
Dots ‘N Doodles’ colorful, distinctive business storefront will carry over to their new location, Leahing said. They already have “new, fun ideas for the interior and exterior.”
The move will also support their mission to give unrepresented artists a chance for exposure. However, the move is bittersweet for Leahing.
“We’ve been so happy on 10th Street, it’s hard to say goodbye,” he said. “But we need more space – we are like a plant that has become root-bound. We don’t have the space to show customers all we have to offer.”
