Elks leader attends national convention

SEASIDE – Seaside Elks Exalted Ruler Dennis Brodigan has returned from the 146th Elks National Convention in Orlando, Fla. More than 6,900 people attended the four-day convention.
The Elks National Foundation announced that $19.2 million will be distributed in the coming year for Elks scholarships, hoop shoot, soccer shoot, veterans programs, youth activities and in grants to benefit communities.
Oregon Elks were recognized for their contribution of $2 million each year to support the Elks Children’s Eye Clinic in Portland. These funds support 16,000 pediatric eye care visits, 1,200 pediatric surgeries and screening of 5,000 preschoolers ages 3-5 throughout the state. Oregon Elks also contributed $200,000 toward medical equipment and recently completed a $1 million endowed Oregon Elks Pediatric Ophthalmic Professorship.
