Alicia Keller of Astoria High School was recently presented the school’s highest agricultural honor, the DeKalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award, sponsored by the Monsanto Company. Keller, the daughter of Amber Slocum and Ken and Holly Keller, received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience.

Her accomplishments have included serving as secretary of the Future Farmers of America chapter during the 2009-2010 school year, representing Astoria FFA as a state delegate at the state FFA convention during business sessions and attending the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Keller also served as a teacher’s assistant during several agriculture classes. Her agricultural education instructor was Hannah Brause.

Keller was awarded a scholarship from the agriculture program for serving as the 2010 greenhouse manager. She is a freshman at Linn-Benton Community College, and will serve the Astoria FFA Alumni Chapter as vice president in 2010-2011.

As a winner of the 2010 DeKalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award, Keller’s name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed at Astoria High School.
