Wauna Federal Credit Union recently announced its grand opening date for a second full-service branch in Astoria.  The new Astoria Safeway Branch is scheduled to open in July, with a grand opening celebration slated for Aug. 11. Ground breaking for the project commenced May 25.

The new Wauna Federal Credit Union branch will be located in the Safeway Store at 3250 Leif Erickson Drive.

“We’ve developed a wonderful partnership with Safeway, and we’re both thrilled by this new opportunity to provide another level of service to residents that frequent this busy shopping region,” said Robert Blumberg, WFCU President/CEO.

Jeff Parker, branch manager at the WFCU Astoria Branch on Columbia Street, will manage both Astoria branches and Bob Gibson, also from the Astoria Branch, has been promoted to serve as on-site Operations Manager at the new Astoria Safeway Branch.

The Astoria Safeway Branch will provide a full range of services Monday through Saturday. These include individual teller and member service stations, a 24-hour ATM, plus a lending center that can assist with auto, home, credit card and other loan products.

The new Astoria Safeway Branch will be the Credit Union’s 6th in Clatsop and Columbia Counties. A 7th branch, to be located in downtown Scappoose, is scheduled to open later this year. The new Scappoose Branch will be the first certified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) “green” building in Columbia County.
