PORTLAND – The Dapper Frog Lifestyle Galleries, headquartered in Pacific City, has just signed a long-term lease for a large space that will house a Dapper Frog gallery in downtown Portland’s Pearl District. The new gallery, the fifth in the company’s lineup, is expected to open by early July and will occupy 3,150 square feet of space at 915 N.W. Davis St. The building formerly housed the Lawrence Gallery, which closed earlier this year.

Company owner John McDonnell said the Portland gallery will feature most of the same artists on display in his other locations. It will be open seven days a week and will host monthly artist signings and other events to attract glass enthusiasts.

One artist who will be featured, said McDonnell, will be Tim Cotterill, who has a line of jewel-colored cast bronze frog sculptures. Cotterill’s work is displayed at more than 100 galleries worldwide.

The new Portland gallery is the second Dapper Frog expansion in as many months. In April, McDonnell announced that his discount holiday store, The Drunken Monk in Lincoln City, would become a permanent fixture in the Safeway shopping center.
