Dr. Jack Evans Mitchell, 91, of Seaside, formerly of The Dalles and Lincoln City, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, in Seaside.

He was born June 2, 1919, in Vancouver, Wash., to Edwin and Lucille (Evans) Mitchell.
He attended grade school and graduated from high school in Casper, Wyo. He graduated from the University of Colorado after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, and from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland.
On Aug. 17, 1946, he married Virginia Ann Grinde in Eugene. She preceded him in death in 1997. The couple resided in The Dalles for 30 years.

While living In The Dalles, Dr. Mitchell was a chiropractor, an enthusiastic community fund raiser, a supporter of high school athletics and involved in many community groups. He and his wife moved to Lincoln City in 1977.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff Mitchell, and his wife, Virginia Macedo, of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Joe Mitchell and his wife, Kelly, of Portland; two daughters, Julie Mitchell of Neotsu and Mindy Poetsch and her husband, Jim, of Seaside; and three grandsons, Tiago Mitchell of Portland and Raffael and Matteus Mitchell of Santa Barbara.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jon Mitchell, in 1978.
Family members said he will be fondly remembered for his easy-going temperament, great sense of humor, integrity and honesty.

At Dr. Mitchell’s request, there is no service.
