Brace yourselves, Gooniephiles. Warner Home Video is sponsoring THE GOONIES 25TH ANNIVERSARY GREAT TREASURE HUNT SWEEPSTAKES at (www.thegooniesmovie.com).

Here’s the scoop: You register on the site (you have to be age 13 or older), then begin looking for doubloons, which are scattered around on the treasure map. Once you find a doubloon, click on it, and you’ll be given a question. Answer correctly, and move on. There are a total of four doubloons, and you get one entry in the sweepstakes for each doubloon you collect.

The grand prize? A three day/two night trip for four to Los Angeles to compete for $5,000 in a Live Goonies Scavenger Hunt at the Warner Brothers studio lot in Burbank, Calif. First prize is a 32-inch flat screen TV, and second prize is a Goonies prize package. But you’d better get going – the sweepstakes ends Wednesday.

Each potential finalist will be notified by phone and/or e-mail on Thursday. First and second prize winners will be notified by e-mail on or about Oct. 21.

Of course, there is a method in the madness. The contest is a promotion for the Nov. 2 re-release of “The Goonies” on DVD and Blu-ray.
