Poyer ‘shirt’ goes from gray to red

Astoria senior Jordan Poyer may not have to wait as long as first expected to suit up for the Oregon State football team.

Poyer – who has drawn numerous professional scouts to most of Astoria’s baseball games this spring – originally signed a letter-of-intent to “grayshirt” at Oregon State, and would not be allowed to take part in team activities until 2010.

Instead, Poyer has now been declared a redshirt freshman, and will report for Oregon State’s fall football camp Aug. 9.
