In One Ear: Big screen time

Probably just about everyone on the North Coast has seen “The Goonies” at least once (and probably a lot more) on TV. But how often do you have the opportunity to see it on the big screen after it was first released in 1985?

Happily, a Fathom’s Big Screen Classics event will show the full movie in January in theaters around the country, along with insight from film critic Leonard Maltin, all in honor of the upcoming Goonies 40th anniversary this year.

And yes, it will be shown three times right here in town, at the Astoria Gateway Cinema, at 4:30 and 7 p.m. Jan. 19, and at 7 p.m. Jan. 20, on Screen 2. As of Monday, there are still seats available. Tickets, which cost $11.50 each, are available at bit.ly/GoonScreen. Goonies still never say die! (Photo: Warner Bros.)
